Cocktail Haikus

I was inspired recently to write short poems, at least format/syllable wise Haikus. There’s a precision in at least the aesthetic form reflects, like in making cocktails, a precision, an art form, and a hopefully enjoyable end result. Most of these were inspired by my favorite drinks, one suggested by a coworker when asked for a cocktail suggestion.

“Daiquiri in Winter”

Light, bright, summer green.

Rum, tart citrus, touch of sweet.

False warmth, light in dark

“Civilized”

A clear, frozen pond.

Crisp, brittle, deep, but well-known.

Brine, or citrus twist?

“Something Old-Fashioned”

A pure, classic form:

Amber sweetness on the rocks.

Some dashes… Balance.

“When in Doubt”

Scarlet, bitter dress.

All aromatic palate.

Steady sipping, friend.

“Get Liit”

A touch of all things

Hidden by its own design.

Gone too fast, and felt.

“G&T”

Three everyday things

All defending the drinker.

Bev’rage of Empire.

“End of a Hard Day”

Green fairy whispers,

Author recommends bubbles.

Just one! Be careful.

Drink, read, and write responsibly! Nunc Est Bibendum, my friends.
